Richard B. Thompson
President

In his 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Richard B. Thompson began his career as a sheet metal helper. Later, he took on a position as an air balance technician and soon after worked as a carpenter. Following his work as a carpenter Mr. Thompson advanced to project management and estimating. For the last 20 years, he has been president of Buford-Thompson Company, which he co-founded in 1979.

Mr. Thompson received his bachelor of science degree in building construction from Texas A & M University in 1971. While a student at A & M, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. In December 1971 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of the United States Army.

Active in professional organizations, Mr. Thompson has been a member of the board of directors of the Texas Building Branch, the statewide organization of The Associated General Contractors of American, Inc., since 1998, and he was president of the Fort Worth chapter in 1996.

A native of Dallas, Mr. Thompson is married and has two children. He enjoys fishing and spending time at his ranch raising Texas Longhorn cattle.

Sammy Martin
Vice President, Field Operations

Sammy Martin has 30 years’ experience in the industry and as a result has a comprehensive understanding of commercial construction methods. He joined the company in 1993 as a superintendent and has supervised the construction of a variety of projects in the $15 million to $37 million range, including schools, retail and a hospital. Before his promotion to his present position, he served as superintendent for the $37 million Juan Seguin High School in Arlington, Texas.

A native of Pollok, Texas, Sammy and his wife have two grown daughters.

Bob Wadsworth
Director of Client Services


Bob Wadsworth joined the company in 2002 as Director of Client Services after having completed 30 years of service in the public school arena. He earned a degree in education from Texas Wesleyan University while working full time as a night custodian for the Fort Worth I.S.D. He then taught fifth grade in Fort Worth while attending North Texas State University where he received a master's degree in education.

Prior to joining Buford-Thompson Company, Bob served as executive director of plant services for the Arlington Independent School District. During his 12-year tenure at Arlington ISD, he coordinated and supervised $475.6 million in construction projects including 37 major additions to schools, 12 new elementary schools, four junior high schools, and the new Juan Seguin High School.

Bob and his wife have one daughter.

Larry Wells
Chief Estimator

Larry Wells joined Buford-Thompson Company in 2002 as chief estimator. He has over 30 years experience in all aspects of commercial construction estimating and is particularly skilled in the area of value engineering. In addition to his detailed knowledge of the metroplex construction market and subcontractors, he stays abreast of the latest estimating software and tools. Larry is a member of the D/FW Minority Business Development Council.

Larry and his wife have 6 grown children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.







Patti Boswell
Accounting and Office Manager
Corporate Secretary


Patti Boswell, who joined the company in 1987, serves as accounting and office manager. She has 15 years experience in construction job cost accounting, including seven years in a supervisory capacity. She was elected corporate secretary in 1999.

In 1993, Patti was honored as Committee Member of the Year by the Fort Worth Chapter of the Association of General Contractors, and she currently serves as chairperson of an education sub-committee for that organization.

She is a member of the Mid-Cities Human Resource Association and the Construction Financial Manager’s Association.
